Wedding dress design - Initial consultation:
Our initial consultation entails a one-to-one meeting with either Raishma or one or her design team. The purpose of the consultation is to discuss the bride’s ideas for her wedding.
Raishma would discuss and advise which styles would suit the bride’s body shape. If the bride has magazine cuttings of examples of dresses she likes, we would discuss the bride’s ideas to see if they can be incorporated in the final design.
The bride will have the opportunity to try on different dresses that Raishma believes would suit the bride’s body shape. After trying on a wide variety of styles within the store, a sketch is created by Raishma. The colour of the gown is selected from the colour chart and a wide variety of fabrics is shown to the bride for her to select from.
A vast number of embroideries are available in house for the bride to choose from. They can be adapted to suit the bride’s tastes. After finalising the sketch with the bride a costing is then given for the wedding dress.
Choice of Material:
A wide variety of fabrics are available, from duchess satin to brocades. Some of our winter brides have opted for the heavier fabrics such as duchess stain and raw silks for a more structured style. Whilst for some of our summer brides opt for French chiffons and georgettes and light weight jamavars for temple weddings or wedding receptions. Samples of fabrics are shown to the bride at the point of ordering the dress. Dyed fabric swatches are shown there after for final approval.
Wedding dress design - First actual fitting:
This is when the wedding dress is ready in its final fabrics for its first real fitting. The fitting of the dress is checked and adjusted to the bride if required. A second fitting is then necessary to check the fitting of the dress again to achieve a perfect fit.
Up to three fittings are sometimes necessary depending on the style of the gown. All alterations to the wedding dress are made in house. The first actual fitting is normally one month before the wedding.
Wedding dress design - Collecting the final dress:
Once the dress has been adjusted and the bride is happy with the fitting the dress is steamed and pressed and bagged ready for the bride to take home. If the bride requires we can dress the bride on the day of the wedding for a fee.
